An iconic Newcastle building has been transformed into a heritage listed luxury hotel..

The Crystalbrook Kingsley opened in June 2021 as Newcastle's first five-star hotel. The building was previously a council administrative office, but EJE Architecture and Suede Design were commissioned to transform this unique and iconic building into a 130 room luxury hotel.

Known now as Crystalbrook Kingsley (a nod to Newcastle's earlier name, Kingston which dates back to 1804), the iconic building has had yet another label thrown on it, but this time, one they can be proud of.

While the extensive renovation was complete prior to receiving heritage status, the design was always as much about celebrating Newcastle's history as it was about protecting it.

Dux Lighting has produced and supplied more than 600 light fittings for this project.
